COUNSELING INTERN
Howdy!
I am a Graduate Counseling Intern at Loyola University Maryland and am so excited to get to know you! I believe therapy should be a space that provides you with a safe base to explore parts of yourself, take risks, test out new things, increase awareness, and be able to express your true self. I value a collaborative relationship and authenticity within the therapy room. You are the expert on yourself. You already have the answers within yourself. My role is to help you access those answers and become more attuned with yourself.
My focus is working with children, teens, young adults, and families. Some areas I work with are anxiety, depression, anger management, life transitions, chronic illness, autism spectrum disorders, coping skills, self-esteem, and substance abuse. I tend to have an eclectic orientation as I enjoy pulling from various perspectives to provide a tailored treatment uniquely for you! I value the gestalt and client-centered principles of viewing a person as a whole, genuineness and promoting self-awareness. I love to utilize psychoeducation because it's such a powerful tool to give us context and normalize what we feel and think. Often, I pull from CBT to assist in structuring sessions and incorporate activities into homework. I also enjoy using motivational interviewing to help you find the strength to change.
I hope that we can address your concerns, learn helpful tools and skills, and find solutions to whatever issues arise. I’m looking forward to being part of your journey!

COUNSELING INTERN
Hello! I am delighted to intern at Pivot Point as I complete my master’s degree in clinical professional counseling at Loyola University Maryland. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples who are experiencing difficulties including anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, life transitions, loss, and relationship stress. I welcome working with people of all backgrounds, including folks who have disabilities or chronic illness, those who identify as neurodivergent or LGBTQ+, and those who are questioning or trying to find their identity. My therapy style is rooted in humility, curiosity, and respect for each client’s uniqueness. I use a person-centered style that encompasses aspects of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, mind-body work, and mindfulness. Using these approaches, we might explore the influence of your childhood on your present problems, examine the relationship among your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, and help you become more aware of your body and the present. I aim to create a safe, comfortable space in which we can explore together what is troubling you and how you might begin to gain relief from suffering. I welcome working at your pace, collaborating with you at every step of the process, and making therapy as transparent as possible. I view mental health holistically and will explore with you the impact of sleep, work, diet, movement, relationships, creativity, and spirituality on your mental health. I will be honored to support you as you begin therapy.

ART THERAPY INTERN
I am a second year graduate student at Notre Dame of Maryland University working toward my M.A. in Art Therapy. I have used artistic expression my entire life to convey my emotions and explore my identity. I believe that art can be a useful tool to help us process, cope with, and overcome life’s many challenges. I primarily work within the person-centered and gestalt approaches to therapy in order to help clients bolster their self-esteem, practice resilience and mindfulness, and develop a holistic view of wellness.I have experience working with child and adolescent clients struggling with feelings of depression and anxiety, but I am eager to work with adult clients as well in my time at Pivot Point. In my personal art practice I use many different types of media including crochet, painting, illustration, and much more. Together, we can explore what materials are most helpful to you in expressing yourself through artmaking. In doing so, we can work together towards healing and growth.

ART THERAPY INTERN
I am a second-year graduate student at Notre Dame of Maryland University, pursuing my master's degree in art therapy. To me, art therapy is using creativity and artistic expression to help people heal and grow. I primarily utilize Mindfulness-Based and Person-Centered approaches in my art therapy practice. I identify as an artist and have worked as a scenic painter and costume designer in the past. My personal art tends towards the use of two-dimensional mediums such as paint, colored pencils, markers, and pastels, and primarily focuses on nature themes and colorful compositions. However, I’m always open to experimentation in the many diverse ways art can be expressed. I have experience practicing art therapy with the older adult population, but I am interested in working with children and adolescents during my time at Pivot Point. -

COUNSELING INTERN
Hi! My name is Lauren, and I’m a second-year student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, working toward my master’s degree in social work. I am excited to work with you toward your goals and to be a safe place for you to explore your feelings. I believe the most important aspect of a therapeutic relationship is the ability to be authentic and honest. I hope to provide a place to show up as our real selves, without fear of judgment or of saying the wrong thing. Life can be beautiful, and it can also be really challenging sometimes. That's okay to admit. I hope to be with you through both the ups and downs, helping you process and cope with life, with you leading the way.I primarily work with children ages 7 and up, but I’m also excited to support teens and adults, especially around eating disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, relationship dynamics, and life transitions. With children, I often work with those experiencing anxiety, ADHD, depression, interpersonal and social struggles, family dynamics, and more.
I pull primarily from Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy in practice. I use a variety of approaches, utilizing a client-led framework. Together, we'll explore what feels best for you and what you find effective and helpful. I truly believe the best way to know if we're a good fit is to have a conversation, so let’s talk! I’d love to learn what you’re hoping to get from therapy and how I can support you.
