Munisa Juma, MA, LCPC
LICENSED CLINICAL PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor seeing clients from Maryland and Virginia. I primarily work with adults addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and life transitions. As a second-generation immigrant, I have a deep passion and experience in supporting individuals through the unique challenges related to the immigration experience.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in self-reflection, skill building, and finding practical tools and strategies to work towards achieving your goals. I utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques to encourage reframing and challenging thoughts to change behaviors. I have experience with using Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma work. I am committed to multicultural understanding and cultural sensitivity and strive to provide an inclusive, safe, non-judgmental space for every client.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthropology from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Towson University. I serve as a pro bono therapist for the Intercultural Counseling Connection.
