Therapy is NOT a “one size fits all” kind of deal. It can be overwhelming to find a therapist, let alone finding the right therapist to meet your specific needs. I work with children, adolescents, and adults (10+) specializing in issues relating to cancer diagnoses or chemotherapy treatments, anxiety, grief/loss, transition of life issues, trauma, ADHD, and interpersonal relationships. More recently I have begun exploring work with people who identify as a transracial/transinternational. My clients enter therapy open to change and ready to learn new skills in hopes of striving for personal growth and exploration.
Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I collaborate with my clients to regain control over the voice inside their heads that says they are not good enough, change is impossible, or that there is no hope left. Understanding how your thoughts influence your emotions and behaviors builds the pathway to positive change.
I am a person before I am a therapist. I believe transparency between therapist and client is an imperative element in creating a strong therapeutic relationship. This means I will laugh with you and embrace reality when needed. No one likes to feel like they’re talking to a wall in therapy.
